It was originally found in the wild in France and England in 3/96.
It was distributed in the US in a file called  dogzcode.zip via the 
alt.cracks newsgroup.

It occasionally replaces the icon in an infected file with one that 
looks like an octopuses tentacle and changes the name to Tentacle.
