LAS VEGAS (Nov. 13) BUSINESS WIRE -Nov. 13, 1995--Syncronys Softcorp (OTC:SYCR) today announced at the COMDEX show the highly favorable results of a commissioned survey which randomly contacted a statistically representative sampling of current users of SoftRAM95 with Windows 3.1 and 3.11. The survey was conducted by Dataquest, an internationally recognized technology market research and consulting firm based in San Jose, Calif. Research specialists talked with 393 owners of SoftRAM95 to discuss their experience with the product in Windows environments. These individuals, contacted from Nov. 7 to Nov. 9, responded to a specific telephonic questionnaire to determine their objective appraisal of the effectiveness and value of SoftRAM95 in running a variety of software programs along with key issues of product quality and performance. The results were summarized as follows, which carry a reliability factor of plus or minus 4.9 percent on Syncronys' installed customer base of 600,000 users. This means that Dataquest is 95 percent confident that the findings would fall within five percent, plus or minus, if they had expanded the study by contacting the universe of SoftRAM95 users. For example, when 80 percent of the respondents in the study report that SoftRAM95 meets their expectations, Dataquest is 95 percent confident that between 75 and 85 percent of the entire installed customer base of SoftRAM95 users for Windows 3.1 customers would agree. -- Eighty percent said that SoftRAM95 performed as expected. -- Eighty-two percent describe themselves as being either very satisfied or satisfied with the product. -- Forty-eight percent described SoftRAM95 as being either their favorite or one of their favorite utility programs. -- Seventy-three percent of the purchasers surveyed said they would buy another product from Syncronys. -- Productivity gains were very noticeable among the respondents with multiple responses citing the user's ability to run more and larger applications concurrently and to run Windows 3.1 faster as a result of using SoftRAM95. "From our 24 years of experience auditing the users of software, we have concluded that SoftRAM95 enjoys high across-the-board marks from its installed base in key areas of customer satisfaction and product performance. SoftRAM95 delivered mid-seventy to eighty plus percent satisfaction ratings which is very positive and clearly indicates very strong loyalty to the product and to Syncronys," commented Caro Giordano, associate director at Dataquest, a company of the Dun & Bradstreet Corporation. Syncronys has also just announced the findings of another commissioned evaluation which confirmed that SoftRAM95 effectively doubles Random Access Memory (RAM). Conducted by XXCAL, Inc. Testing Laboratories of Los Angeles, an independent software testing company, Win16 Benchmark Testing was conducted on a variety of systems using Syncronys' SoftRAM95 under Windows 3.1 and 3.11 environments. XXCAL is a world leader in compatibility, certification and functionality testing for software products. A copy of the full report is available from the company. The results were summarized by XXCAL as follows: "Under the Windows 3.1 and 3.11 environments, Syncronys Softcorp's SoftRAM95 (v2.001) increases RAM dramatically. The results show that SoftRAM95 effectively doubles system RAM (i.e. from 8MB to 16MB) in a manner that is equivalent to adding more physical RAM. The tests show that SoftRAM95 enables Windows to run faster, to run more and larger applications concurrently and to load larger data files. Various Windows applications were utilized to perform this benchmark." The Windows applications utilized to perform the benchmark include such popular programs as CorelDRAW 5.0, Drafix 3.0, Excel 5.0, MS Office 4.2, Pagemaker 5.0 and Word 6.0. "These two independently conducted studies clearly support the basic premises which has lead to SoftRAM95 topping the best seller software rankings. Simply, users of our software, as verified by Dataquest, are happy with the product -- it delivers what it promises to deliver on a daily basis for a variety of challenging memory hungry applications. XXCAL's results reinforced what our customers have been telling us all along: the core technology provides a substantial and measurable benefit on Windows 3.1 which is our largest target market," commented Rainer Poertner, Syncronys' president and CEO. Work continues on the upgrade to SoftRAM95 for Windows 95. XXCAL will be commissioned to evaluate the upgrade once it is available. The company, as announced previously, will automatically distribute the upgrade version which is currently planned for the end of 1995 to all registered users.
